Listing for 2004 Chevy Venture LS wheelchair van. I purchased it about a year ago to transport a family member in recovery from spinal surgery. Thankfully, all is (much) better now and the van needs a new owner to help out. The van is in very good condition overall. It runs and drives great, gets reasonable gas mileage and is easy to park. The Chevy Venture is a van that I didn't pay much attention to until getting involved in the need for a wheelchair van. Things that I have learned while owning this one are that the Venture shares most mechanical components with the Chevy Impala, that it is a durable, if simple vehicle overall and the drivetrain is tough as nails. It's relatively low tech by today's standards, but this is what makes it strong. It's a proven and durable setup. It has good power and despite the additional weight added from the conversion, it still moves itself well. The bonus is that any shop can work on the mechanicals and parts are plentiful and very reasonable. Driving the Venture as a wheelchair van is quite different. It is heavier than the regular van, but still gets decent highway mileage. It will get about 24 mpg on the highway. You do need to be more aware of things like speed humps and obstacles compared to a regular Venture, the van suspension is raised above normal height and the floor is modified to be lower to accommodate the ramp and ease of entry. This makes it lower to the ground, therefore speed bumps and such need to be respected to insure clearance. It has a power passenger side sliding door that is operated by either the key remote or button on the door post. It also has a regular sliding door on the driver side. It has a rear seat for 2 with seat belts, and a folding foot rest. It comes with removable passenger seat and floor mounted tracks for the attaching straps. 4 ratcheting straps are included to insure safe transport of wheelchairs. The van has really cold dual a/c and I have done a good deal of maintenance to insure reliability. It has AM/FM radio, and cruise. The ramp is manual, and raises / lowers easily. I chose the manual ramp to keep things simple and lower maintenance. It works well. The dealer that I bought it from was not honest about it's condition. As a result, I did a lot of work to ensure it was reliable. It has:new Firestone front tires and very good rear tires, new front ceramic brake pads and AC Delco rotors, new rear drums, as a maintenance function, all fluids replaced, brake fluid flushed, coolant, transmission fluid, power steering fluid. Wiper blades all aroundnew air filter and cabin a/c filternew motor mount and transmission mount Carpeting is in good conditionPaint is in good conditionAll glass is in good condition Non smoker vehicle, clean and odor free. The van is in very good condition overall. It's not new. New wheelchair vans can run over $50K. This is a good used van that works as designed. Don't expect perfection. It has it's share of dings, and a few scratches but is very presentable and reliable. The only problem that I did not address is a non-working parking brake. The replacement rockers last longer than the originals, if that's the way you want to go, if you were going to fix it at all.
